REPRESENTATIVE BILL ALLEMAND COMES OUT AGAINST COATES ROAD GRAVEL PIT AFTER BEING UNSATISFIED WITH THE PROPOSED SOLUTION TO THE POTENTIAL OF PRIVATELY OWNED WELLS BEING DRIED UP.

“I have not seen an acceptable compromise that protects the property owners in the Coates Road area. The proposed solution to the potential of water wells drying up as a result of the planned gravel pit is unsatisfactory.” -Representative Bill Allemand, (R -Natrona)

 

(Natrona County, Wyoming) – At the request of many of his Vista West constituents, Representative Bill Allemand, who represents Edgerton, Midwest, Homa Hills, Bar Nunn, North Casper, and the Vista West area of Natrona County, spoke with Kyle True, the CEO of Prism Logistics.

Rep. Allemand left the meeting unsatisfied with the proposed solution to the potential of the wells of homeowners in the area being dried up.

“The need for gravel is huge.” Rep. Allemand stated on Saturday, June 1, “Our infrastructure depends heavily on gravel. However, what cost to the community should be tolerated?”, he continued.

Rep. Allemand went on to say, “Wyoming, now and in the future, will need more and more gravel. But, I believe it needs to be mined in places with a much lower impact on the people than what is being planned for Coates Road.”

The biggest concern Rep. Allemand sees regarding the proposed gravel pit is the potential for private wells to dry up.

“My biggest concern is the potential of hurting the water aquifer and drying up the wells,” he stated.

During his discussion with Mr. True, Rep. Allemand learned of the plan to address the potential situation in which the wells of homeowners in the Coates Road area could dry up.

“I realize there is a plan to develop a Home Owners Association that will control a new community well and lay pipe to deliver that water for each resident whose well dries up as a direct result of the gravel pit.” Rep. Allemand then went on to say, “To me this is unsatisfactory, it would be infringing on the rights the homeowners enjoy today.”

Over the last couple of weeks, Rep. Allemand has been contacted by many of his constituents in Vista West, and in other parts of his district, and found that the overwhelming majority of his constituents are adamantly opposed to the proposed gravel pit.

“I am a very pro-business legislator who dislikes overreaching regulations. I am going to do what I was elected to do: listen to my constituents and give them a voice. Therefore, I am coming out against a gravel pit on Coates Road.” Rep. Allemand concluded.
